They are both the weapon of choice for logging andīuilding log roads. I have spent thousands of hours on a D6C,and D7E. Dad is still scared to put money into either one as he's scared he's gona have to fix either one. I still kind of prefer the old E but we'll have to see.

I don't think moving either will be to big of a deal should be legal on the highway on 5 axles with either friend of ours has a 28' or so low boy that we rent when we need. Trunions were wore pretty good as well as the pins on the blade. One of the bad things about it was the blade was pretty sloppy. They just put a new starter on it new corner bits on the blade and a new primer pump on the injection pump. Clutch was very smouth and shifted in to gear easily. Was thinking it was just because of the cold though as it would lock up the track no problem. The only thing I noticed when I was running it was it was harder to steer to the right then the left. Had been down to around 0*F the night before but it started right up without any fuss.(hadn't been pluged in at all) Dad was concerned about it's ability to push out stumps as well. We went and looked at the 6 last thursday. The direct drive is a bit of a turn off for me but it is in better shape then the old e. Thanks HT, been looking high and low all over the net but never found anything definate. Should add the U/C on the 6 is very good both crawlers can be had for the same price I think. If computer cooperates there should be a couple of pics of the old e didn't have the camera with when I looked at the D6 unfortunateley. It's actually a 1964(low horse) but it has a high horse engine in it(1967) Engine and final drives were just redone but is there a huge diferance from 1964-1966 when they went to the high horse as far as transmisions and final drives go? The other question I had was with the D7E that we looked at. It's a wide blade on it so I'm a little concerned that it wont be able to push out the banks of sand on the sides of the road.(road is only about 10' wide) It's actually in really good shape but I'm a little concerned that it wont be big enough to push out some of the stumps and to push out the road that we're going in on.

Am I a little genourous or a little shy of what it actually weighs? I've done some looking around for wieghts and the best I can come up with is about 35,000 lbs. I'm not all that fermilliar with that size though as I've never really been around them. Still looking at crawlers, found a 1973 direct drive D6C LGP in good shape. Tried over on acmoc but my password was all mixed up and didn't get the new one yet.
